SAMSON GAS UTILITY- Manager

SUMMARY:


Under the direct supervision of the Tipahaskahn Kamik General Manager of the Samson Cree Nation, the Gas Utility Manager is responsible for the protection of Nation resources on behalf of Samson Cree Nation. Reports on department progress and activities to the General Manager and Tipahaskahn Kamik Committee.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


Ø Manage and coordinate day to day operations of the department.

Ø Reports to the General Manager of the Department.

Ø Supervision of all personnel under the authority and operation of the Samson Gas Utility department.

Ø Attention to detail to ensure high quality work is being produced.

Ø Remain calm and professional while working under pressure.

Ø Tactful and discreet when working with confidential and sensitive information.

Ø Development, prepare and maintain the policies in relations to the natural resources and environmental issues for Samson Indian Reserve.

Ø Liaison on behalf of the Samson Cree Nation with Four Nations and companies in relation to matters pertaining to the natural resources of the Nation.

Ø To develop short- and long-term strategic plans in relation to the natural resources, environmental issues of the Samson Cree Nation.

Ø The development of an annual department workplan that aligns with Samson Cree Nation mission, vision, values; and Community Strategic Plan.

Ø The development of an annual operation and maintenance budget (and quarterly operation budget) including work-plan, goals and objectives and mandate of the department.

Ø Ensuring the approved annual budget is adhered to, monitoring monthly expenditures and keeping the Financial Administrator, General Manager and Committee informed on the financial progress of the department.

Ø Provide monthly reporting to the Financial Administrator, General Manager and Committee on the progress and activities of the department.

Ø Evaluation and assessment of personnel for the department, including training requirements.

Ø To provide technical assistance to the elected leadership of the Nation in matters relating to the field of Natural Resources.

Ø To assist and cooperate with other departments on matters relating to the field of natural resources and environmental issues.

Ø To attend meetings locally, regionally or nationally as directed where issues relating to natural resources & environmental issues are being addressed.

Ø Performs other related duties as required by the Tipahaskahn Kamik General Manager.

Ø Must be willing to attend training related to employment position.


QUALIFICATIONS:



Ø Minimum Business Management Diploma or equivalent, project management training is an asset

Ø Strong Management and Organizational Experience with a minimum three years of administrative background

Ø Strong computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project Management). Experience with GIS software is an asset

Ø Must have a valid driver’s license and own transportation

Ø Proficiency in managing employees and experience in Conflict Resolution

Ø Knowledge of the oil and gas industry and environmental issues

Ø Strong writing and communication skills and experience in policy development, proposal writing and reporting

Ø Experience in budgetary preparation and proven ability to maintain financial control of a budget

Ø Proven ability to work as a “team player” with personnel, supervisors, and people in work situations

Ø Knowledge of the Cree language is an asset

Ø Comfortable working in office and field environments

Ø Ability to manage several tasks simultaneously and handle a large volume of work in a timely manner

Ø Education in the field of Natural Resources (particularly Oil & Gas), environmental development would be an asset

Ø Submit Resume, Criminal Record Check, copy of Class 5 Driver’s License and two (2) Reference Letters.

Ø May be subject to a drug test.
