Job Description:

1. Under the supervision of the Early Learning Program Manager and Workforce Training Manager, the Daycare Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, maintaining, and managing the operations of the Samson Cree Nation Child Care Center

2. Supervises all Samson Cree Nation Daycare staff.

3. Works with Samson Daycare HR/ Billing Clerk & Samson Cree Nation Personnel on all; hires, evaluates, trains, disciplines and recommends dismissal of staff as necessary.

4. Assists/ or develops, recommends, and administers policies, procedures, and processes in support of Samson Daycare operations; implements and monitors compliance with approved policies, procedures, and processes.

5. Ensures compliance with applicable grant requirements and “supporting” funding requirements, including sanitation, fire, and Samson Cree Nation Safety regulations.

6. Participates and works with Treaty Protectorate and Enforcement & Nipisihkopahk Wellness and Social Development departments in the development and administration of the Child Care Center budget; coordinates the allocation of resources following budget approval; recommends approval of expenditures.

7. Collects and analyzes a variety of complex data and information for reporting purposes.

8. Performs monthly statistical analysis and summarizes findings in applicable reports or other communication mediums.

9. Participates in/on a variety of meetings, committees, task forces, and/or other related groups to communicate information regarding services, programs, areas of opportunity, and/or other pertinent information as appropriate. Advocates for center needs through college and community resources.

10. Participates in Workshops/ Training/ Certification as requested or required.

11. Participates in soliciting short-term bids from vendors for small supply orders, which includes defining specifications, selecting vendors, and placing orders with vendors.

12. Any other duties as required or requested by Early Learning Program Manager, Senior Manager of Treaty Protectorate and Enforcement

Job Requirements:

- Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in management & or position related to supervision

- Education Considerations: (Not required but helpful) Program Administration, ECD Level Two or Three, Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Education, and or Certificate in Administration and or Management


- Experience Considerations: (Required) Management References, Training/ or Certifications that pertain to Management

- Valid driver’s license – Class 5

- Child Welfare Check (Vulnerable Sector Check)

- (Not required but helpful) Criminal Record Check

- The successful candidate must provide this upon the first day of employment

- Must be able to take training/ certification as required

- Must be able to ensure Daycare deliverables are being performed as per program policy

- An understanding of the Maskwacis Cree Language and Miyo Opakiniwasowin.
