Position: NNADAP Worker
Reports to: Community Wellness Manager
The NNADAP Worker is an Addictions Counsellor who is familiar with the symptoms of alcoholism and drug abuse. This incumbent will be available to those community members who have a need to pursue treatment from their abuses. As an outpatient program, the program will make referrals to an inpatient treatment program. The main objective of this position is to provide counselling through intervention and prevention utilizing all resources involved with addictions, such as Mental Health, Health Care, Social Work and any other professionals involved in addictions treatment.
Responsibilities:
v Serve as a role model by practicing a personal wellness plan,
v Screen and assess client’s needs and why they are seeking assistance and services,
v Initiate new programs to drugs and alcohol abuse such as support circles, Al-anon, A.A., N.A., sponsorships, etc.
v Developing linkages and maintaining effective working relationships with other community services/agencies,
v Ensure data, forms, reports and other necessary documentation is accurate and submitted in the timelines required,
v Identify issues and barriers to accessing services with individuals and families,
v Conduct community and environmental assessments where feasible to identify and understand emerging issues, service gaps and opportunities to build capacity,
Required Organizational Skills:
· Maintain Oath of Confidentiality,
· Excellent communication skills both verbally and written (letters, proposals, reports, applications, etc.),
· Knowledge of the Cree culture, values, traditions and teachings and applying them into programming where possible.
· Facilitation skills,
· Must be willing to take further training in the field of Addictions to keep current.
Education:
® Minimum Grade 12, Nechi Community Addictions Certificate, Nechi Advanced Counselor Certificate will be assets,
® Experience working with at risk populations,
® Preferred skill areas are Non-violent communication, Conflict Resolution Coaching, Probation, experience in addictions and or counseling from First Nation’s communities,

Position: Outreach Worker
Reports to: Outreach Team Leader/Community Wellness Manager
The Outreach Worker is responsible for promoting engagement of at-risk individuals and their families in the community and increasing access to opportunities. Responsibilities focus on referral services for at-risk individuals and include the support and encouragement necessary to help individuals make use of those referrals. Outreach services include linkages to other community programs and agencies to facilitate contacts and services that include; education, advocacy, employment needs, and mental health.
Responsibilities include:
v Coordinate outreach activities that are intended to identify, capture the attention and interest of, and foster involvement of at-risk individuals (and their families)
v Engage parents where possible, through existing parents’ groups, faith communities, etc., and provide education and information on issues related to parenting, etc.,
v Facilitate connections between youth and their community, promoting awareness and positive connections,
v Ensuring that safety and wellbeing practices are implemented...
v Assist in the organizing and participation of public education seminars, workshops,
v groups and training for youth parents and service providers,
v Identify issues and barriers to accessing services with individuals and families,
v Identify and participate in staff development/training/mentoring needs,
v Seasonal - Ensuring at risk population is kept out of the elements of winter by providing transportation to the shelter.
Required Organizational Skills:
· Incorporate and adhere the Organization Vision, Mission and Core Values in the work plan,
· Maintain respectful, cooperative working relationships to contribute to the seamless delivery of services to Samson Cree Nation members and community members,
· Maintain Oath of Confidentiality and ensure safekeeping of organization records,
· Knowledge in relevant legislation and organizational policies, standards and procedures,
· Applying Cree culture, values, traditions and teachings into programming where possible.
Education:
® Post-secondary education with a focus on Child and Youth Work or diploma in a related field,
® Experience working with at risk populations,
® Knowledge of the Cree language and culture,
® Excellent communication skills, written and oral, and computer program literacy
® Facilitation skills
