DEPARTMENT: SAMSON PEACEKEEPERS-PEACEKEEPER MANAGER

SUMMARY:


Plan, direct, and coordinate security activities and security staff for all the Samson Cree Nation Departments as per directive of the Tipahaskahn Kamik General Manager. Ensure the safety and protection of Samson Cree Nation community members, staff, visitors, customers and others. Provide security for alternative revenues as operational requirements may permit to do so. Reports on department progress and activities to the General Manager and Tipahaskahn Kamik Committee.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


Ø Coordinates all activities of the Samson Peacekeepers Security program.

Ø Preparation of budgets and report, reports of daily activities, observations and incidents.

Ø Implement and maintain emergency plan in case of emergency.

Ø Integrity and moral fitness.

Ø Reliable and dependable.

Ø The development of an annual department workplan that aligns with Samson Cree Nation mission, vision, values; and Community Strategic Plan.

Ø The development of an annual operation and maintenance budget (and quarterly operation budget) including work-plan, goals and objectives and mandate of the department.

Ø Able to react appropriately in emergency and high stress/emergent situations.

Ø Flexible to work different schedules.

Ø Prepares, presents and discusses the services of Samson Peacekeepers Security for Nation Administration and businesses.

Ø Coordinates staff training, development and discipline as per the Samson Cree Nation Nipisihkopahk Employment Policy.

Ø Prepare pay list for authorization for payable, payroll and mileage.

Ø Prepare staff on procedures for by-law application.

Ø Provide a visible presence that enforces safety and security.

Ø Identify and investigate suspicious behavior, threats and irregular activity.

Ø Respond to calls/alarms as required.

Ø Tactful and discreet when working with confidential and sensitive information.

Ø Meet Bonafide Occupational Requirements.

Ø Business and management principles involved in strategic planning, leadership technique, and coordination of people and resources.

Ø Relevant equipment, policies, procedures and strategies to promote effective local security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.

Ø Abide by laws, legal codes, and government regulations.

Ø Transmission, broadcasting, control and operation of telecommunications systems.

Ø Principles and procedures for training.

Ø Communicate information and ideas in speaking and writing so others will understand.

Ø Know your location in relation to buildings or to know where other objects are in relation to you.

Ø Administer, direct, and review a security operation program to ensure a safe and secure environment for employees, visitors, customers and others.

Ø Develop methods to improve security policies, practices, and recommend changes to senior management.

Ø Perform other related duties as requested by the Tipahaskahn Kamik General Manager.





QUALIFICATIONS:


Ø Must have minimum High School diploma or equivalent – Business Management diploma and project management training are preferred.

Ø Valid class 5 drivers license.

Ø Clean drivers abstract.

Ø Criminal record check.

Ø Ability to lift 50lbs.

Ø Demonstrate leadership and customer service skills.

Ø Strong computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project Management).

Ø Must have experience in administering First Nations programs and administering operating budgets.

Ø Comfortable working in office and field environments.

Ø Must sign an Oath of Confidentiality.

Ø Familiar with issues and factors affecting the community.

Ø Previous experience managing employees.

Ø Must submit a current Criminal Records Check and Child Welfare Information Systems (CWIS) check.

Ø Security Training from a recognized company.

Ø Submit Resume, Criminal Record Check, Child Welfare Information Systems (CWIS) check, copy of Class 5 Driver’s License and two (2) Reference Letters.
