POSITION: ASSISTANT BAND ADMINISTRATOR
DEPARTMENT: ADMINISTRATION
SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Band Administrator, the Assistant Band Administrator will assist to implement and maintain the Programs, Policies and Procedures established by the Chief and Council of the Samson Cree Nation.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· To assist the Band Administrator in supervising and providing direction to Senior Managers, Programs Managers and Executive staff.
· To assist the Band Administrator in monitoring programs to ensure that Policies and Procedures established by Chief and Council are maintained.
· To assist the Band Administrator in assuring that programs are within budget and that planning and rationalizations for activities are prerequisite.
· To assist the Band Administrator with reports from Senior Managers and Program Managers to be presented to Chief and Council.
· To assist the Band Administrator in drafting of legislation or by-laws for approval by Chief and Council.
· To assist the Band Administrator in drafting regulations and criteria related to Programs for Chief and Council.
· To assist with regular Senior Management Meetings.
· To assist in ensuring that programs are networking with each other.
· To assist in arranging the discussion and solution of program issues with Chief and Council, Senior Managers and Program Managers as required.
· To compute tasks as requested by Band Administrator.
SKILLS:
® Communicating effectively, verbally and in writing, in diverse range of Audience and settings; persuasion and negotiation of conflict and problems; assessing operational, program, staffing and fiscal needs. Interpreting legal documents and government Policy and regulation evaluating fiscal and financial reports, forms and dates; analyzing complex written documents; identifying and resolving administration problems; working long and irregular hours, and under pressure conditions; and delegating responsibility and achieving results, and maintaining order in an environment of changing priorities.

QUALIFICATIONS:
· Minimum undergraduate University degree; with a major coursework in Business or Public Administration, Political Science, Native Studies, Sociology or a closely related field.
· One year of management experience performing responsible general Administrative work with knowledge of Finance and Personnel Administration.
· Must have a valid Class 5 License, submit a copy.
· Computer knowledge is required.
· Ability to handle potential conflict situations and difficult people
· Must provide a Resume with two letters of reference
· Must provide current Criminal Record check
· Ability to understand and speak Cree an asset
· Maybe subject to Drug Test.
