Team Lead position Summary
The shawl house team leader, is a member of the interdisciplinary team which over sees the day-to-day program operations of the Shawl house. The Shawl house team leader provides direct support to the families and the front-line staff and will assist in the direction and support of program philosophies. The Shawl house team leader provides supervision and evaluation to all the front-line staff members and contractors. The Team Lead is expected to carry out the mandate of Akamihk Child and Family Services, along with other duties as directed by the Shawl House Coordinator.
Specific Responsibilities & Duties
• Supervising and evaluating shawl house FE workers monthly and quarterly.
• To develop and maintain a working relationship with case workers, ACFSS agency, in order to secure current and continuing placements for ACFSS prevention home clients.
• Set up and attend shawl house monthly meetings, client intake meetings, Case conferences, other ACFSS scheduled meetings.
• Ensure the ACFSS Shawl house program meets the needs of ACFSS shawl house clients.
• To ensure the Shawl house provides cultural and recreational programming on and off reserve when required.
• Monitor Daily paperwork, logbook, Daily progress reports, contact notes, critical incident reports.
• Ensure that Canada food guide is followed, and meal plans are implemented.
• To ensure that Shawl house is maintained and kept clean.
• To be on call after hours and directly deal with emergency situations and to notify shawl house coordinator as needed for assistance or support.
• Meet with the shawl house coordinator on a daily basis to update, debrief and report any issues or concerns.
• Remain within the “Scope of practice” of the child and youth workers.
• Providing clients with a sense of safety, acceptance and nurturing
Qualifications
• Social work diploma, Early childhood development (and or competency-based equivalences)
• Three (3) years related front-line and supervisory experience.
• Strong interpersonal skills that bridge the distance with individuals that may have a resistance to relationships, different morals, values and alternative lifestyle choices.
• Non-judgmental manner.
• Strong personal boundaries.
